As the city of Edmonton grows through immigration, the need for multiethnic and multiracial churches also grows. New Canadians from other countries are now seeking churches where they are valued and where they can apply their gifts and strengths to Christian ministry. The Edmonton International Church (EIC) is designed specifically for this purpose. God Cares International will be overseeing start-up projects to support EIC
To establish the church as a vibrant and sustainable congregation in Edmonton, the EIC is registered as a non-profit and will be applying for status as a registered Canadian church. Objectives for the next year are:
- To identify and recruit a ministry team to serve with EIC
- To raise awareness of the church and host Sunday services and vision meetings
- To build a framework for sustainable funding
Over the first year and under the current restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, worship services will be hosted online and streamed for foreseeable future. Interest in the church and Sunday service attendance continues to increase and we foresee the need for support in leading worship and in hosting services.
With the need for more multiethnic churches in Edmonton, a rising number of new Canadians are seeking a place where they can feel welcome and become established. We are asking interested partners to join with us in providing financial support, prayer and skills.
